Thinking about tomorrow

Kia Motors Slovakia (KMS) is the company with responsible behaviour towards environment. KMS has established and certified environmental management system according to the international standard ISO 14001. One of the preferred goals, stated in company Environmental Policy, is continuous improvement of environmental performance and decreasing the environment impact. At the plant we are using the state of art technologies and laboratories, through which we are able to ensure the environmental protection. The waste management system has been implemented at each production shop to make sure the proper separation and treatment of waste. At the Paint Shop mostly water borne paints are utilized and industrial waste water from the whole plant is treated at our own waste water treatment plant (WWTP) – physical and chemical treatment. Biological level water treatment is being permormed in WWTP Hričov.

KMS is responsible citizen of region, in which is acting. In second half of year 2008, KMS established its foundation fund with Pontis Foundation for purpose of improve the life’s quality in the Žilina region. Strategy of fund is in environment protection, support of handicapped groups and improvement of mobility.

KMS has set following environmental goals for year 2010:

  • Observance of the environmental legal requirements with achieving ZERO penalties from state authorities.
  • Accomplishment of the ISO 14 001 recertification audit with achieving ZERO major non-conformances.
  • Continual improvement of environmental performance and ISO 14 001 system maintenance - decreasing the max. no. of findings from internal audits.
  • Decreasing the amount of consumed drinking water and used industrial water per 1 employee and 1 produced car.
  • Decreasing the amount of produced waste and increasing of its recycling rate
  • Decreasing the amount of input raw material and chemicals per 1 produced car.

KMS is being aware of its environmental responsibility, therefore our aim is to decrease the impact on environment and monitor environmental aspects in whole production process. We focus on development and production of environmental friendly cars, because we realize, that protection of environment is one of the key to successful business.
