• The engine daily production will be increased by one third from September
• The volume production of a new model Hyundai ix35 is planned from 2010

Kia Motors Slovakia successfully launched the production of a new version of cee’d model and thanks to it the full two-shift production was re-started. Currently, around 100 new employees are being hired for the engine production so the total number of employees will increase up to 2,800. During the regular summer company break the lines were prepared for the production launch of a new model Hyundai ix35 which will become the third model produced in the plant along with Kia cee’d and Kia Sportage.

“The production of a new version of successful Kia cee’d model helped to increase daily production in the plant over 800 vehicles which meant a positive impulse for us. During the company holiday we adjusted the lines for the trial production launch of a new model Hyundai ix35 which will start in the autumn of this year,” said Dusan Dvorak, a spokesman of Kia Motors Slovakia.

The production of innovated 1.6-litre diesel engines used for all versions of Kia cee’d models as well as other engines for a brand new model of Kia Venga whose production will start in Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Czech in Nosovice, the Czech Republic, in autumn 2009, requires hiring of 100 new employees. New positions will be created for the third shift in engine assembly lines from September 7, 2009, which means the engines will be produced in the plant for 24 hours a day.

The volume production of a new model Hyundai ix35 should start at the beginning of 2010. It represents the first sport utility vehicle (SUV) of Hyundai brand designed and developed directly in Europe. New SUV replaces a very successful model Hyundai Tucson selling 63,000 units per year across Europe at its peak. It will soon make its world premiere on September 15, 2009, at the Frankfurt International Motor Show along with upgraded version of Kia cee’d model.

Comprehensively updated, the new Kia cee’d range delivers a host of customer benefits, with numerous exterior and interior design refinements, upgraded standard equipment and technical innovations that enhance the driving experience while also significantly reducing fuel consumption and cutting CO2 emissions to a low of 110 g/km. Technical innovations being introduced with new cee’d include fuel-stretching ISG (Idle Stop & Go) technology on both gasoline and diesel engines for the first time. The new is also a hill-holder function and brighter projection-style headlamps.
